Greg, I highly renmcmeod this. No you do not need to know your history but there are a few words I had to look up. Other than that King explains the setting well enough that you do not need to be a history buff, just a lover of good writing. Ah Pillars of Earth, I read that when it came out, I know I am dating myself LOL. It is a book that is hard to forget. It remains one of my favorites.Faith, I will look up An Inconvenient Wife. Thanks for the tip.Susan, thank you for stopping by and commenting! I am so pleased you like the review. I could have gone on and on about how wonderful the book is, but I want others to read it for themselves. I look forward to your next book. Have you written others? I looked on your website but did not see any. I would love to read anything you have written. I now have a new favorite fiction author:)

Great reeviw! I also saw Book Chubi's reeviw, and thought this book sounded intriguing, but thought I'd have to remember my MacBeth to get anything out of it. I hate when I don't get the "references", ya know? Sounds like it's a good read anyway, though! Favorite historical fiction: The Shaara's Civil War Trilogy, Herman Wouk's Winds of War and War and Remembrance, and also The Hope and the Glory and for pure brain candy, The Pillars of the Earth.
