From as far back in time as history records, human beings have sought the truth – some order or entity that unifies all existence. Sometimes these have been codified in certain writings approved as scriptural, other less centralised traditions have collections of sayings and stories, still others have passed on their wisdom orally.
This collection contains all three types of tradition, providing a unique overall view of the collective spiritual wisdom of humanity. Despite the variety of form and style, the common insights shine brilliantly through, and the introductions to each tradition provide a succinct summary of how we can relate this wisdom to our own lives today.
Containing 12 chapters, each with 31 readings, the book can be used as a means of education, reference or inspiration. An introduction to each tradition covers origins, teachings, expressions and themes that are relevant for us today, written in a readable style suitable for most age groups.

Hi Molly,I'm sorry that I didn't get this before now. In the frutue if you want to register for something, it might be best to call Pathways. The sessions were all booked so maybe next time you can register. A donation is what you can afford. We try to make our workshops accessable to more people this way. If you haven't experienced our crystal bed yet, we offer everyone their first session free. Just call and make an appointment. It is a great way to shift energy and clean your energy body!Blessings!Teresa

No religious works say anihtyng about 2012.Every religion and culture has some doomsday or armageddon, but none state any dates or even eras. They all use when it comes to pass or when the signs are fulfilled or some other vagueries. The 2012 EOTW is an internet hoax I am surprised some people still don't get that. It was started in 2003 by some nutjobs that had nothing to do with any religion. The noise about the doom of the world is pure trash, internet garbage that some of us have been trying to clean up for a while (but its hard to fight ignorance).

You may want to do a bit of research on that one. Stalin renpeoed many churches during WWII and used religion as a tool. George Bush has admitted that he went to war in Iraq on God's instruction and Hitler was well known (although not amongst Christians) and praising Christianity after rejecting Roman Catholicism. If the antagonist in a war is religious, at some point that religion must become accountable, even if only because it has not been explicit enough in making war a sin. Look at the war with Iraq, there are no religious reasons for going to war, but because George Bush did it on the grounds that his God told him to, religion is a HUGE factor. Maybe, just maybe, if he didn't have a God, he would have looked at the evidence, realized that there were no WMD's, Sadam was not an immediate threat to the country and may have pursued other means of removing him from power. Means may not have involved the death, injury and maiming of thousands of troops and innocent civilians.

Sep04Hannah Miet Thanks, love. Solace in strangers is exatcly it. Words memorized as a comfort. Meditation, I guess.P.s. There are hundreds of Asians in Times Square doing some kind of meditation performance. They are all wearing bright yellow shirts. I can't make out what they say from my perch in the library.
